As has been the case for the past few years, France’s national team has offered us some of the most elegant kits in international football. This year is not the exception as they decided to go with a similar pattern but a darker set of colors. A more navy version of "Les Bleus" is eye capturing from the moment you first lay eyes on it. That was the case of the jersey when some of the members of the national team first gave fans a glimpse of the kit after they qualified for the World Cup last year.

"By managing sweat and keeping the body cooler longer, players feel more comfortable, sweat less, and perform better," said Martin Lotti, Creative Director for Nike Football.
The fabric detail of the French National Jersey is inspired by the story of Nmes, a town in the south of France. Nmes was the birthplace of modern denim, and the fabric takes its name from the town (literally ’de Nmes’). Nmes is historically known for its textiles and patterns and the landscape of Nmes is said to have inspired today’s rugged denim as well as the silk shawls worn throughout Europe in the 18th century. This paradox between raw denim and elegant silk mirrored Nike designers’ desire to create a beautiful design aesthetic for the French home shirt.
Obviously, a far cry from what the US National team used as inspiration for their 1994 kits, this look shows the true sense of what denim and high performance athletic gear could do when fusioned together.
"The Nmes fabric story inspired us to use the twill texture and 45 degree angle of classic denim combined with a focus on beautiful craftsmanship," said Lotti.
Aiding performance by regulating player body temperature over the course of match is a primary focus for Nike’s design teams. Utilizing a combination of Nike Dri FIT Technology, "burnout" mesh and laser cut ventilation holes, designers are able to localize cooling where players need it most.
Nike Dri FIT technology pulls moisture away from the skin to the outside of the garment where it evaporates more quickly, and laser cut holes and engineered mesh in key areas where heat is generated allow for increased breathability and airflow across the skin.
In addition to keeping players cool, Nike is utilizing a new dual knit fabrication that incorporates cotton and recycled polyester for the best in moisture wicking properties, while adding a softer feel and more flattering shape that they advertise with the flexibility that it offers for many fans to use without an overly tight fit. There is also a great deal of style in these jerseys that allow them to be used elegantly to go out with or as a jersey to look extremely sharp on any pitch.
